Raceface  2010 Next SL Cranks

The NEXT SL crank represents the next generation of Race Face carbon cranks. Weighing in at a cateogry leading, 695 grams, Next SL cranks are the lightest, strongest 100% carbon fiber MTB cranks ever made. Race Face has created a crank that goes beyond existing carbon material & process limitations, setting a new benchmark in performance XC components.

NEXT combines over seven years of Race Face composite technology with over fifteen years of crank development, producing a carbon crank with an unparalleled strength to weight ratio.

For 2010, Race Face NEXT cranks will be equipped with dedicated, newly designed NEXT chainrings. NEXT chainrings are 100% CNC sculpted in-house from the hardest, highest wearing 7075 aluminum available. We start from super-thick 5mm plate material to maximize stiffness for super crisp up-shifts, then we set about removing excess material by milling, pocketing and scalloping away every excess gram. The end result are light, high performance chain-rings that integrate seamlessly with the Next SL crank.

Features
• The arms are the result of over three years of intensive engineering & are manufactured in our British Columbia, Canada manufacturing facility. The crank arms are completely hollow with all unnecessary material being removed from the centre core. The composite arms have no internal aluminum spine.
• By removing the centre core in the post curing process, our engineers mold at high pressure levels resulting in optimal material compaction & an overall lower void structure.
• Pedal & spindle inserts are co-molded & mechanically locked into place. This proprietary bonding process guarantees that they’ll never loosen or creak.
• All Race Face XC cranksets feature our new “EXI” interface external bottom bracket system for easier crank installation and removal with standard tools and fully adjustable chainline.
• Next SL features a specifically engineered, superlight, CNC machined 6AL-4V Titanium BB spindle that is permanently moulded directly into the drive side crank arm to minimize weight and maximize power transfer.
• All alloy hardware keeps weight down and coolness high. Crank bolt puller cap makes crank removal a snap with just an 8mm hex wrench.
• Bearings feature our new custom triple wiper seal to better retain grease & keep contaminants out.
• Bearings are factory filled with Phil Wood waterproof grease – tested & proven to extend bearing life.
