In the world of downhill racing hundredths of seconds can win or lose a race. You sometimes need a purpose-built machine to eke out a slight advantage to get on the top of the box. That was the premise of the 303R-DH. Our racers wanted a bike that was built for fast, flowy courses that had berms, jumps and rollers. They wanted a bike that was agile in the air, had stiffer suspension, and had a distinct “poppy” feeling going off the jumps. The 303R-DH is that bike. Fun and agile, it has already helped our riders to countless podiums in international and domestic competition.
So why the R in 303R-DH? Rate.
The single linear rail controls the shock rate in a way that can’t be done with links only. On the 303R-DH the linear rail coupled with a single pivot and rate links optimizes the shock rate, lateral stiffness of the frame and keeps the suspension linkage low and within the confines of the frame. This also nearly eliminates shock rotation which translates to longer shock life and increased suspension efficiency. In addition, the rail and link design offers the unique property in that the suspension is independent of the adjustable geometry. This means there will be no change in travel or shock as the head tube angle and bottom bracket height are adjusted.
At 10.5 lbs, the 303R-DH frame lightened the load by almost two pounds which makes it more responsive and agile all-around.
