Built with the same core design principles as the pro-level Zephyr, Bell's Stratus MIPS road cycling helmet combines lightweight aero efficiency with cutting-edge comfort technologies. The shape was refined for all-around road performance—ventilated for long climbs but still fast for the flats—and the all-new Float Fit system offers comfort and security with a streamlined fit and an oversized dial that’s easy to adjust with one hand. The Overbrow Ventilation system pulls cool air in through the front and pushes it through an air-channel matrix to reduce overheating. And thanks to the adjustable No-Twist Tri-Glides, the straps stay flat and properly positioned no matter how hard you’re hammering. This model also includes MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) for added protection in certain types of impacts.

It was time for a road-specific helmet. I tried on every brand in the store, but nothing matched the Stratus MIPS for comfort for my head. It fit snugly around and is very adjustable. All helmets have adjustable chin and ear straps, but the Stratus includes a height adjuster so you can dial in the fit at the back of your head. Spin the click wheel and you can cinch the bucket tight to the back of your head. It's so light and comfortable that you don't really notice it on your head. The straps stay flat and don't bounce around - again, you don't know they're there. Ventilation is great - lots of airflow through and around. I love the "Retina Sear" high-vis yellow - especially since the whole helmet is that one bright colour. Most helmets are black on the rear, which doesn't help visibility. The Stratus is high-vis 360°! Friends have spotted me well down the road. There is a mountain version called Catalyst with a removable visor.
